PM Imran Khan pledged justice for martyrs of Model Town tragedy: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Addressing the sixth anniversary of the Model Town tragedy, MQI leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that today the person who used to talk about seeking justice for the oppressed of Model Town tragedy while standing beside him is the Prime Minister of the country today. He would make a public pledge to deliver justice to the innocent citizens of Pakistan who were martyred by the state upon getting elected. He said that today he has his party's government at the Centre and in Punjab but are silent and that they are not even bothered to give a statement.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said what to speak of the provision of justice, those who protested the Model Town tragedy were handed down sentences of seven-year imprisonment in their government. Appreciating the courage of the judges who accepted the bail of 13 workers, he said those who were oppressed and wronged by the state are having to apply for bails, and those who mass-killed innocent Pakistanis remain at large. He said not even a single killer has been punished to date for the unpardonable crime of shedding human blood. He asked as to where are the institutions mandated to dispense justice. He bemoaned that those talking about the workers, labourers and the poor are nowhere to be seen.

Quran Khawani was held for the departed souls of the martyrs at the central secretariat of MQI in Model Town and a floral wreath was laid on the Martyrs' Memorial. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Brig. (r) Iqbal Ahmad Khan, Noorullah Siddiqui, Hafiz Ghulam Farid, Ishtiaq Hanif Mughal, Haji Amjad Hussain Qadri, Mian Ghulam Murtaza and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri further said the states and governments can survive with the system of 'Kufr' but not of oppression. He said sooner or later the oppressor meets his end and those who save the oppressors also join his club. He said making sure that the oppressed get justice is our national, religious, and moral responsibility to which we are committed. He made it categorically clear that we would not surrender before anyone. He saluted those who laid down their lives and stood up to the oppression. He also lauded the courage and sacrifice of those who rendered their lives during Inqilab March in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that we are trying to contact the Prime Minister for justice in Model Town case at every level but no response has been given yet. He said he had a word with the Military Secretary to the Prime Minister three months ago about justice in Model town tragedy, adding in the same breath that no reply has been given to date. He said either Prime Minister Imran Khan has forgotten the matter of justice for the oppressed of Model Town or it has not been his priority anymore, stating that he can answer this question.

PAT leaders visited the graves of the martyrs, laid a floral wreath there, and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in peace.
