On the direction of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, ceremonies were held across Pakistan to pray for the departed soul of the daughter of Qudwat-ul-Awliya’ Sayyiduna Tahir Ala-ud-Din al-Qadri al-Gillani. These Quran Khawani ceremonies were held in Canada, Australia, America, Sweden, the UK, Norway, South Africa, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, Greece, France, Spain, Denmark, Holland, and Italy in addition to Pakistan. The Holy Quran was recited for 711 times, Durood sharif for 23 million times, Ayatul Kursi for 40 thousand times, Surah ar-Rahman for 435 times, Surah Yasin for 61 thousand times, and Surah al-Fatihah for 83 thousand times.
A special prayer ceremony for the departed soul was held at the Central mosque Minhaj-ul-Quran and Gosha-e-Durood in which Durood sharif and kalma sharif was offered for 7 million times and 2 million times respectively. Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri led a special Dua after Asr prayer in which the workers, members and associates of MQI belonging to different parts of the world participated. This process of Quran Khawani still continues.
