Supreme Council is the guardian of the thought of MQI: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

A meeting of the Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) Supreme Council was held on September 7 with Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in the chair. The meeting was attended by Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri (Chairman MQI Supreme Council), Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri (President MQI), Brig. (r ) Iqbal Ahmad Khan (vice president), Khurram Nawaz Gandapur (Secretary-General MQI), Qazi Zahid Hussain (President PAT), Dr Ghazala Hassan Qadri (Member), Dr Shahida Naumani (Member), Ali Abbas Bokhari (Member, UK), Dawood Hussain Mash'hadi (Member, UK), Zil-e-Hassan (representative of EU chapter), Syed Mahmood Shah (representative of EU chapter), Dr Maya Naz (representative of North America), Ali Imran (representative of Asian Council), Ghulam Murtaza Murtazai (representative of Gulf Council), Haji Muhammad Khan (representative of Gulf Council), Allama Muhammad Sadiq Qureshi (representative of Minhajian), Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees (representative of Minhajian), Engineer Muhammad Rafique Najam (Naib Nazim-e-Aala Coordination), Noorullah Siddiqui (Naib Nazim-e-Aala Media Affairs), Abdul Rehman (Director Finance), Faisal Hussain Mash'hadi (Director MWF UK & Europe), and Ms. Farah Naz (President MWL).

In his special talk on the occasion, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri congratulated all members on their appointment to the Supreme Council and lauded the services and contributions of each member individually. He said he has transferred all his powers to the Supreme Council. He said the Council is the protector of the foundational thought that has been mentioned in the constitution of the MQI. He said not only is the Supreme Council the guardian of the founding ideology of the MQI but also responsible for the protection of its wider interest.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the constitutional forum of the Supreme Council has become functional from today onward, adding that it is the MQI's highest policy and decision-making institution. He said whatever decision the Supreme Council takes after due consultation will be final and definitive, adding in the same breath that propaganda against and criticism of its decisions will be considered as mischief-making aimed at hurting the core objectives of the organization.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri announced to extend the tenure of Brig. (r) Iqbal Ahmad Khan and Khurram Nawaz Gandapur for a period of five years. He also made an announcement to make Muhammad Farooq Rana (Director FMRi) a new member of the Supreme Council.

After the address of Shaykh-ul-Islam, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri presided over the meeting of the Supreme Council, whereas Khurram Nawaz Gandapur conducted the proceedings of the meeting as Secretary to the Council. Faisal Hussain Mash'hadi briefed the participants about the performance of Minhaj Welfare Foundation. Zil-e-Hassan presented the organizational report of the EU chapter of the MQI in the meeting. Ghulam Murtaza Murtazai, Ali Imran and Tehseen Khalid took the participants into confidence on the progress of Minhaj College Manchester.

Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and President MQI Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri congratulated the members on their appointment to the Supreme Council and expressed their best wishes for the future. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur shared the details of the meetings of Majlis-e-Shura and Majlis-e-Amila (CEC) with the members of the Supreme Council.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri congratulated the organizers on the successful arrangement of all constitutional meetings. Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri also felicitated all the staff members for making excellent arrangements of these important meetings. He described the workers and staff members as backbone of the MQI, stating that they remain at the heart of every organizational activity.

Latest proceedings regarding Model Town case were deeply analyzed during the meeting. The lawyers team fighting this case at legal front was highly appreciated upon its consistent and exemplary efforts in seeking justice for the Model Town victims.
