MQI's Department of Resources and Development arranged a luncheon in the honor of the country's leading traders, industrialists, and business personalities at the central secretariat in Model Town. Awards were given to the distinguished members of the business community for their excellent service in the field of human welfare. Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri and Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri attended the program as special guests, whereas all the officeholders of the Resources and the Development Department were also present on the occasion.
Speaking to the participants, Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the provision of resources for the service of suffering humanity is a great deed in the sight of Allah and His Prophet (pbuh). He said that Islam teaches us to love humanity, adding that our great religion has described the service of humanity as the best form of worship. He said that fulfilling the needs of the deserving and poor people is among the obligations of the well-to-do and affluent sections of society.
Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri further said that Islam enjoins upon its followers to extend respect to humanity without any discrimination. He said that extending help to someone in need of it is also a way of respecting him. He said that although the resolution of the fundamental problems is the responsibility of the state, the affluent people do not, however, hesitate from their share of responsibility to reach out to the needy in the Islamic code of life. He said that Allah Almighty likes the act of the prosperous people stepping forward to help others. He said that the concept of welfare binds humanity in a relationship of mutual love besides being a source of earning good deeds.
Muhammad Shahid Latif, Director of Resources and Development, welcomed the traders, industrialists, and the representatives of the trading bodies on their arrival at the central secretariat and briefed them about the welfare activities of MQI. He threw light on the public welfare projects including the Aghosh Orphan Care Homes that are operating in Lahore, Sialkot, and Karachi. He informed the participants that the Minhaj Welfare Foundation is running projects of creating economic self-sufficiency, the provision of clean drinking water, and the educational stipends worth millions of rupees. He said that the mass marriage project is another flagship project of MQI under which thousands of girls belonging to poor households have been married off. He also shared the performance of the Resources and Development Department on the occasion.
Haji Amin-ul-Qadri, Chairman of the Resources and Development Department, also spoke in the ceremony and said that charity enjoys a higher place in Islam. He said that helping the poor is the responsibility of those who have resources. He said that in addition to the core religious work, MQI also remains at the forefront of efforts to help the suffering humanity.
Rana Muhammad Shakeel, the vice-chairman of the Resources and Development Department, also gave a speech. Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri distributed awards and shields among Seth Iftikhar, Haji Muhammad Saleem Butt Qadri, Sajjad Khan, Kamran Mughal, Muhammad Ali, Hafiz Bashir Ahmad, Afzal Shahid, Haji Sheikh Muhammad Hanif, Sheikh Shaukat Ali, Sheikh Awais Tahir, Ahmad Bilal, Talat Sameem, Muhammad Razzaq, Muhammad Shafique, Tariq Mahmood, Khalid Mahmood, etc.
A cake was also cut at the conclusion of the ceremony in celebration of the 70th birthday of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. The Department's officeholders namely Nasrullah Khan, Malik Shameem Numbardar, Asif Sulehria Advocate, Chaudhry Afzal Gujjar and others were also present.
