Former national cricketer and renowned leg spinner Mushtaq Ahmed attended the speech competition on the third day of the inter-collegiate contests held under the banner of College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences (COSIS) at the secretariat of MQI.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Ahmad said that Islam is all about character building. He said that we can benefit from the teachings of our beloved Prophet (SAW) only when we will implement them in all areas of our individual and collective life. He said that we will have to focus on our character building for our own dignity and prestige, adding that it is our character that will regain the lost glory for us. He said that he was happy to learn that Shaykh ul Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri and his institution are promoting Islamic message of peace, knowledge and welfare across the world. He said that it is satisfactory that the character building and morality of the youth is the subject of special attention at COSIS.
More than 50 students from various colleges and universities delivered speeches on the topic of "The survival of nations lies in the protection of their values." They collected a lot of appreciation for their unique and spirited style in which they gave the speeches. Maryam Tariq from Punjab College, Ikhlaq Bashir from Dar-ul-Uloom Nooria Rizvia and Syed Ghulam Murtaza from COSIS and Javeria from Minhaj College for Women got first, second and third positions respectively.
Senior director Ayub Khawar, Col (r ) Iftikhar Naqvi, senior actor Haseeb Pasha, Mufti Abdul Qayyum Hazarvi, Prof Muhammad Nawaz Zafar, Dr Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi, Muhammad Naeem Ghuman, Muhammad Rafique Najam, and Dr Haleema Saadia distributed medals, shields and other prizes among the position-holding students.
Those present on the occasion included Dr Muhammad Akram Rana, Prof Muhammad Nawaz Zafar, Dr Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Malik, Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Sadeedi, Dr Shafaqat Ali Baghdadi, Mohibullah Azhar, Sabir Hussain and teachers of COSIS.
