On the direction of Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, an emergency meeting of the Central Working Council (CWC) was held here at the central secretariat. The meeting decided to donate one day’s salary of the staff of MQI secretariat to the flood-related welfare activities. On the direction of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the CWC also set up a committee to consider the concession in fees of the students whose houses were destroyed and the businesses of their parents were affected in the floods.

MQI Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, who presided over the CWC meeting, urged the people of Pakistan to come forward and help their brothers and sisters in acute need. He said that 33 million Pakistanis have been badly affected by flash floods and torrential rains and in these circumstances, it is our collective duty to extend our help and support them. We should let them know that they are not alone at this hour of massive need and the whole nation is there to support them, he added.
The CWC meeting directed the MQI chapters across the workers to suspend their routine activities and join Minhaj Welfare Foundation’s efforts for the flood affectees. He said that helping our countrymen and women in acute need is the best form of worship and a way of pleasing Allah. He said that transparency, organization and the trust of the people are hallmarks of MWF. He said that the Foundation has always made sure that the rights of the people are delivered to them.
Brig. (r ) Iqbal Ahmad Khan, while speaking on the occasion, said that the ongoing floods have been the most devastating in our history. He said that 1000 people have died; 33 million have been affected; 8 lac animals have perished and crops standing on thousands of acres have been washed out. He said that human tragedy has developed in Pakistan, one which requires that every one of us, no matter where we are and which party we belong to, should help those affected adversely by floods.
Faisal Mash’hadi, managing director of Minhaj Welfare Foundation, briefed the CWC about the flood relief activities and presented a comprehensive plan. The CWC meeting was attended by Raja Zahid Mahmood, Mir Asif Akbar, Allama Idrees Qadri, Noorullah Sidduqi, Hafizullah Chaudhry, Rana Muhammad Fayyaz, Mazhar Alvi, Sidra Karamat, Sohail Raza, Shahzad Rasool, Abdul Sattar Minhajian, Haji Ishaq, Hafiz Saeed Raza Baghdadi, Haji Manzoor Hussain Qadri, Aftab Ahmad Khan, Col. (r) Fazal Mehdi, Farhan Shiekh and other members of the CWC.
