PAT demands 50% reduction in the prices of utilities

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

PAT Secretary-General, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, has called for a 50% reduction in the prices of petrol, electricity, and gas. He described the recent reduction in petrol prices as a joke and a negligible relief. He pointed out that the relief provided by reducing petrol prices was nullified by increasing electricity prices. The reduction in petrol prices should match the global decrease, providing equivalent relief to the public. He stated that the common man's life has become unbearable. Ruthless individuals occupy the assemblies; they are aware that common people are being forced into starvation and suicides, yet they do not speak in favor of the poor.

The PAT Secretary General highlighted that with the current electricity bills, it has become impossible for human life to sustain in Pakistan. After paying the electricity bills, a poor laborer is left with nothing for food and drink. There is neither medical treatment in hospitals nor education in schools for the poor. Pakistan has never been in such a bad state as it is today, he said.
“When the IMF orders an increase in the prices of electricity, gas, and food items, it is immediately accepted, but when they demand a list of assets of the members of assemblies and bureaucrats to be made public, everyone resists,” he emphasized.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that these individuals do not speak for the common man's interests. He asserted that to stabilize Pakistan's agriculture and economy, it is essential to immediately reduce the prices of petrol, electricity, and gas by at least 50%. He said that instead of borrowing from the IMF, the rulers should cut non-developmental expenditures and luxuries. The use of free electricity, petrol, and gas should be stopped. He further added that those claiming to have vast experience in managing the economy have brought Pakistan to a worse position than Somalia and Rwanda.
