Dr. Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi, Principal of Minhaj-ul-Quran’s prestigious institution, the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences, addressed a ceremony held in honor of World Teachers' Day. In his speech, he stated that every nation in the world has achieved progress by promoting education. In Pakistan, education has not been given the importance it deserves. Even today, more than 25 million children do not attend school, and women have fewer educational opportunities compared to men.

Dr. Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi emphasized that education is light, while ignorance is darkness. The teacher is that noble figure who illuminates the darkness of ignorance with the light of knowledge. The first teacher on this earth is none other than God Himself, who educated the prophets and arranged for the light of knowledge to reach humanity. Islam is the only divine religion and way of life that has made the pursuit of knowledge obligatory for both men and women. Acquiring education is a duty and an act of worship for every Muslim.

He reminded teachers that they are connected to a highly sacred and esteemed profession. In Islam, the status of a teacher is extremely high. He said that teachers are the builders of a nation. Teaching is not just a profession but also an act of worship and a national responsibility. What a teacher imparts to a student has an impact on the entire nation.

He said that the character of one individual shapes the character of the entire society. Nations that do not respect their teachers can never progress. Allah Almighty has highlighted the esteemed position of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as a teacher in the Holy Quran. A teacher is a means of spreading knowledge, but only those with respect can truly benefit from it.
