In Islamic Economy, the Welfare of the Individual is the Top Priority: Dr. Hussain Qadri

The President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and economic expert, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, stated that in an Islamic economy, the welfare of the individual is the top priority. He emphasized that the budget should focus most on the education and health sectors, stating that where there is poverty, insecurity and ignorance will also prevail.

Speaking at a special session regarding the upcoming budget, Dr. Hussain Qadri explained that the state can bring about a revolution in the economic life of its citizens by providing quality education and healthcare services. Education and healthcare are universal needs for both the rich and the poor. The affluent class benefits from these services through the private sector due to their financial prosperity, but the poor and middle class often find themselves unable to afford these services without compromising their basic survival needs.

Although thousands of government schools and hospitals exist, and adequate budgets are allocated for free medicines, as well as facilities for doctors and medical staff in these hospitals, dispensaries, and educational institutions, the common man often fails to benefit from these services due to a lack of accountability, responsibility, and a weak system of checks and balances. The state, by controlling corruption and incompetence and making its administrative mechanisms more effective and accountable, can ensure that public resources reach the ordinary citizen.

Dr. Qadri further stated that if the state provides citizens with facilities in education and health, it could result in savings of thousands of rupees for ordinary people each month, significantly improving their standard of living.
