Engineer Sanaullah Khan, Director of Operations at Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF), has stated that Eid al-Adha is not merely about the ritual slaughter of animals; rather, its true essence lies in piety, sincerity, selflessness, and seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty. He emphasized that Islam teaches us never to forget the underprivileged and deprived segments of society during joyous occasions like Eid, but instead, to share our happiness with them.
He expressed these views during a meeting held at the central secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran, as part of the preparations for the 2025 Qurbani (Sacrifice) Campaign. Engineer Sanaullah Khan said that the spirit of sacrifice is defined by sincerity and devotion to Allah. The acceptance of a sacrifice in the sight of Allah does not depend on the meat and blood, but rather on the piety and purity of intention behind it. He added that the purpose of following the tradition of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is not the outward sacrifice alone, but willingly presenting one’s most beloved possession before Allah.
He further stated that under the MWF Qurbani Campaign, a central slaughterhouse equipped with modern facilities will be established in Lahore, where cows, goats, sheep, and rams will be sacrificed. The meat from the sacrifices will be distributed in an organized manner among the poor, deserving, and needy individuals so that they can equally partake in the joy of Eid.
Engineer Sanaullah Khan concluded by saying that sacrifice is not only a financial act of worship but also a means of promoting social harmony, mutual love, and brotherhood.
