In connection with the arrival of the sacred month of Muharram, an important meeting of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council was held at the central secretariat under the chairmanship of Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui, the Central President of the Council. The meeting was attended by the council's central, provincial, and district officials.
It was decided in the meeting that from 1st to 10th Muharram, the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council will organize “Message of Imam Hussain (RA) & Muslim Unity” conferences across all cities of the country.
The Council issued an appeal that scholars from all schools of thought should promote the spirit of unity, harmony, brotherhood, and fraternity during this sacred month, so that the true message of peace, unity, and compassion of the Prophet’s grandson, Imam Hussain (RA), may be revived.
While addressing the meeting, Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui said that the message of Karbala is to always rise for truth. Muharram is not just the start of the Islamic calendar, but a sacred month that teaches patience, sacrifice, loyalty, truth, and justice. He stated that the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) for the religion of the Prophet (PBUH) is a guiding light for all of humanity. He emphasized that national unity, sectarian harmony, and mutual tolerance are more needed today than ever before. We must adopt patience, morality, and tolerance in our attitudes by following the teachings of Imam Hussain (RA).
Allama Ashfaq Ali Chishti, the Central Nazim of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council, appealed to scholars of all sects to deliver sermons and messages during Muharram that promote love, brotherhood, and peace. He urged that this sacred month be observed as a time to honor the Ahl al-Bayt. He stated that the Prophet’s family protected the Qur’anic commandments by offering their sacred lives. Muharram is a month of worship, selflessness, patience, and endurance. To maintain peace and stability, everyone must play a united role.
He further said that the message of Muharram is the unity of the Muslim Ummah. The sacrifices of Ahl al-Bayt were for all of humanity. Muharram not only reminds us of the martyrdoms of Karbala but also calls us to reflect on their mission and struggle. Standing firm against tyranny and speaking the truth before oppressive rulers is the lesson of Karbala.
He emphasized that in Karbala, the peaceful stance of Hussain (RA) triumphed over the terrorism of Yazid. Scholars should strive to promote brotherhood, love, and tolerance during this sacred month—intellectually, practically, through their writings and speeches. Following in the footsteps of the pious elders, they should advocate Muslim unity to protect the Ummah from division and to help Pakistan progress and prosper.
Participants in the meeting included Mufti Muhammad Rafiq Randhawa, Allama Muhammad Khalil Hanafi, Allama Khalil Qadri, Allama Muhammad Aamir Nadeem, Allama Adnan Faisal Chishti, Allama Muhammad Younas Saeedi, Allama Hakeem Muhammad Jameel, and others.
