A “Train the Trainers” workshop was organized by Minhaj Colleges at Minhaj University Lahore, held in the Farabi Auditorium. Distinguished speakers included Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Vice Principal of College of Shariah (New Campus) and Director Colleges Wing, Wing Commander (R) Muhammad Ghafar, Principal of Minhaj College for Women Aftab Ahmad Khan, Humaira Naz, and Gul Zareen Khan.
The motivational speakers emphasized the vital importance of teacher training programs for effective teaching. They highlighted that such training familiarizes teachers with modern teaching methodologies such as active learning, project-based learning, and the use of technology to enhance student potential.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, while addressing the participants, said that it is essential for teachers to have a scientific understanding of the curriculum. The seriousness and elegance of a teacher’s speech and thought process significantly influence student learning. Wing Commander (R) Muhammad Ghafar stressed that teacher training must be an ongoing process to improve educational standards. He noted that worldwide, teacher training receives great attention, and the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences has launched its teacher training program with a new approach, marking this as its beginning, which will be improved with time.
Renowned motivational speaker and trainer Gul Zareen Khan said that a teacher should neither excessively praise nor unnecessarily discourage students. Evaluation should be based on the assignments aligned with their capabilities. During the teaching process, students’ personal character and personalities should not be unnecessarily discussed; rather, the focus should remain on their academic performance and learning skills so they have ample opportunity to improve and grow.
Dr. Humaira Naz highlighted the importance of honesty and spirituality in teaching and stated that only through teacher training can national and educational goals be achieved, as only a capable teacher can prepare excellent students.
The participants of the workshop were welcomed by Tanveer Azam Sandhu, Principal of Khanewal Girls College. Teachers from the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences, Minhaj College for Women Lahore, and Minhaj College for Women Khanewal attended the workshop.
The event also saw the special presence of Deputy Secretary General of Organizations Engineer Muhammad Rafiq Najam, Deputy Secretaries General Brigadier (R) Umar Hayat, Director HR Colonel (R) Muhammad Khalid, Noorullah Siddiqui, and Director of Training Allama Ghulam Murtaza Alvi, among others.
