PAT Expresses Grief Over Rain-Related Losses

Raja Zahid Mahmood, Central Vice President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives and financial damages caused by the recent heavy rains and floods in various parts of the country. He stated that due to poor drainage systems and the lack of timely relief operations in many areas, people are facing severe hardships.

He emphasized that human lives are extremely valuable, and protecting them requires state institutions to be effective, timely, and well-organized. Raja Zahid Mahmood said that while natural disasters cannot be prevented, their impacts can certainly be reduced through effective strategies.

The recent torrential rains have affected the entire country. According to a report issued by the Disaster Management Authority, dozens of people have lost their lives and hundreds have been injured in the past 24 hours. He noted that the death of five members of the same family in Mureedwal, located near Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore, is a heart-wrenching tragedy.

Similarly, incidents involving electric shocks, collapsing roofs, and people drowning in rainwater have deeply shocked the nation. He urged the concerned federal and provincial institutions to accelerate relief efforts on an urgent and priority basis.

He further demanded that families affected by the rain and floods be provided with emergency financial assistance, food, shelters, and medical care, and that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment.
