Meeting held under Minhaj-ul-Quran to celebrate the 1500th Blessed Birth of the Holy Prophet ﷺ in a dignified manner
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, expressed his views during a special meeting of the Central Working Council held in preparation for the 1500th celebration of the Blessed Birth (Milad) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He stated that the annual Global Mawlid Conference, which has been organized continuously for the past 42 years under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran, will be made memorable this year in honor of the 1500th Milad. He said that Arab dignitaries and scholars will participate in the conference.
The MQI leader urged all Muslim countries to celebrate this occasion with dignity and unity, and to send a clear message to the world that every member of the Ummah holds deep love and devotion for the Prophet ﷺ — a love that no force can remove from their hearts.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur emphasized the need to acquaint the world with the Prophet's ﷺ teachings and practical steps toward establishing global peace and promoting brotherhood. He said the Prophet of Islam ﷺ introduced the world to peace and human rights and gave humanity its first written constitution. Through the Charter of Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ conveyed the message that Islam encourages dialogue and treaties with people of all religions for the sake of peace and the betterment of humanity.
He encouraged every believer to send as many salutations (Durood) as possible upon the Prophet ﷺ as the best way to celebrate this blessed occasion. He also stated that at the beginning of Rabi' al-Awwal, every home should be lit with special illuminations, and the birth of the Prophet ﷺ should be celebrated joyfully.
He noted that although Allah Almighty has blessed humanity with countless favors, He never reminded them of these favors—except for the Prophet's ﷺ birth, which is such a magnificent blessing that Allah commanded believers to express gratitude for it.
He called for Mawlid celebrations to be turned into spiritual and emotional festivals so that the flame of love for the Prophet ﷺ is kindled in the hearts of the new generation.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur also drew attention to an important issue, urging religious scholars to guide the youth while maintaining the sanctity of the Prophet’s ﷺ birthday. He observed that some inappropriate and irreverent practices are being introduced into the celebrations, which tarnish the sanctity of the occasion.
<>He said that scholars must provide clear guidance to the youth and the wider Ummah, emphasizing that the best way to celebrate this day is by offering abundant salutations (Durood) upon the Prophet ﷺ, strictly observing the five daily prayers, and incorporating the Prophet’s ﷺ Seerah (biography) into daily life.
