Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) has reiterated its commitment to provide education, training, and full sponsorship for children who lost their parents due to devastating floods and torrential rains in Buner, Swat, and Gilgit.
The formal announcement will be made on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Bishnoi, Buner, by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, and Engineer Sanaullah Khan, Director of Operations, Minhaj Welfare Foundation.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur is currently visiting flood-affected areas and supervising relief efforts on behalf of Minhaj Welfare Foundation.
Engineer Muhammad Sanaullah stated that the scenes of destruction caused by the floods are heart-wrenching. A large segment of the local population has been rendered homeless. Thousands, including the elderly, children, and women, are sitting under the open sky without shelter.
He added that the central leadership of Minhaj-ul-Quran has decided that until these victims find proper shelter, they will be provided with freshly cooked meals daily. Once they return to their homes, they will receive one month’s worth of rations along with essential household items, as all their belongings have been swept away by the floods.
The MQI leader also mentioned that medical aid has been arranged for the injured, with daily provision of free medical treatment and medicines. "As Muslims and Pakistani citizens, it is our moral and religious duty to extend every possible help to our affected brothers and sisters," he said.
Referring to Minhaj-ul-Quran’s history of humanitarian service, Engineer Sanaullah recalled that following the devastating 2005 earthquake, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri had announced full sponsorship and education for orphaned children. That promise was fulfilled, and today, those children are being raised and educated in the state-of-the-art “Aghosh Orphan Care Home”.
Many of the children orphaned in 2005 have now completed their education and are serving in important roles across various fields. "They are no longer orphans in need — they are now capable of supporting others," he added.
He concluded by saying: “We fulfill every promise we make. Sponsoring orphans is a means of attaining the pleasure of Allah and His Messenger. Alhamdulillah, we maintain documented records ensuring every penny donated by our donors is spent in service of humanity.”
