A delegation of senior leaders from the Awami Tajjir Ittehad (Public Traders Union of Pakistan), led by Chairman Haji Mohammad Ishaq and Secretary-General Chaudhry Mohammad Rashid, met with Fahim Rehman Sehgal, the newly elected President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The delegation congratulated Fahim Rehman Sehgal on assuming office and expressed hope that, with his experienced leadership and practical vision, he would play an active role in resolving the issues faced by the business community.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Public Traders Union, Haji Mohammad Ishaq, stated that the election of Fahim Rehman Sehgal is a positive development for the trading community. He expressed confidence that Fahim Rehman Sehgal’s leadership would further advance the LCCI as an active and representative institution for traders.
Secretary-General Chaudhry Mohammad Rashid highlighted that the election of Fahim Rehman Sehgal is a reflection of the trust the business community places in the leadership of Mian Anjum Nisar. Under the leadership of Mian Anjum Nisar, PIAF has played a remarkable role in strengthening the Lahore Chamber, promoting investment, and uniting the business community. During the meeting, Chaudhry Mohammad Rashid presented several suggestions, including making tax policies trader-friendly, addressing market regularization issues, and controlling the rising costs of electricity, gas, and rents.
Fahim Rehman Sehgal, in his response, thanked the Public Traders Union leaders and assured them that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce would remain committed to protecting the interests of the trading community and promoting industrial and commercial development. He emphasized that the business community is the backbone of the country's economy, and everyone must work together for Pakistan's economic recovery.
He further stated that the Chamber would maintain regular contact with traders' organizations and ensure their opinions are considered in all decision-making processes to achieve better results through mutual cooperation. He also praised the services of Shaykh-ul-Islam Professor Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri in promoting knowledge, peace, interfaith dialogue, and combating extremism, noting that his contributions are commendable both nationally and internationally.
Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber, Sheikh Tanveer, Vice President Khurram Lodhi, EC Member Rana Shobhan Akhtar, and former EC Member Mohammad Naeem also expressed their gratitude to the Public Traders Union leaders during their addresses.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders of the Public Traders Union, including Shehzad Khan, Saqib Bhatti, Mehboob Alam, Rana Manzoor, Shehzad Rasool, Shabbir Ahmad, Zuneir Rashid, Sheikh Waqeel Ahmad, Shahbaz Bhatti, Irfan Afzal Chaudhry, S.R. Tahiri, Abdul Hafeez Chaudhry, and other prominent business figures.
