A prestigious ceremony was organized by the Resources and Development Department of Minhaj-ul-Quran in honor of Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri—President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors at Minhaj University Lahore—on his appointment to the UNESCO Chair for Education, Peace, and Intercultural Dialogue under the United Nations.
The event was attended by distinguished figures from academic, religious, social, and educational sectors. Senior members of Minhajians Executives also participated prominently. The proceedings were conducted by senior Minhaj scholar Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi.
Speakers paid tribute to the achievement, stating that it is not only a personal honor but also a distinction for Pakistan, and a dignified international recognition of the outstanding services rendered by the leadership of Minhaj-ul-Quran in promoting knowledge, peace, and interfaith harmony.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that, for the first time, a UNESCO Chair has been established in Pakistan for the promotion of peace, education, and intercultural dialogue. He noted that Minhaj-ul-Quran has been striving for interfaith harmony for the past 45 years.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, while expressing appreciation, remarked that Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri is not just an individual but an institution in himself. His services in the fields of knowledge, peace, and interfaith harmony are widely acknowledged.
Haji Amin Qadri stated that this is a great honor for Pakistan and the result of the vision, religious services, and unparalleled humanitarian contributions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
Professor Dr. Khurram Shahzad, in his remarks, said that Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has elevated Minhaj University Lahore to a position where it represents a positive image of Pakistan. He highlighted that the university offers quality education, promotes peace and interfaith harmony, and is engaged in modern scientific research. He added that the university has now become a center for achieving UNESCO’s goals of promoting knowledge, peace, and tolerance. He also described Dr. Qadri as a social scientist.
President of Minhajians Forum, Allama Shahid Latif, congratulated Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri on his appointment to the UNESCO Chair, stating that it is a global acknowledgment of the services of Minhaj-ul-Quran International in the fields of peace and education. He added that this achievement has enhanced Pakistan’s image, and described Dr. Qadri as an educated voice of Muslim youth worldwide. He noted that Dr. Qadri delivers lectures at leading universities around the world and is the author of 70 books.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of prominent personalities including Dr. Rafiq Najam, Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees, Mufti Abdul Qayyum Hazarvi, Noorullah Siddiqui, Colonel (R) Khalid Javed, Dr. Mumtaz-ul-Hasan Barvi, Wing Commander Ghaffar Khan, Muhammad Farooq Rana, Raja Zahid Mahmood, Abdul Rehman Malik, Mian Kashif, Sohail Ahmad Raza, Qazi Faiz-ul-Islam, Ilyas Dogar, Shamim Numberdar, Shahzad Rasool, Haji Ishaq, Abid Bashir, Naeem Yaseen, Sardar Umar Daraz, along with central, provincial, and district leaders of Minhaj-ul-Quran, office bearers of Minhajians Forum, and a large number of religious, social, and academic figures.
