The National Commission Must Serve as a Genuine Representative Forum for All Non-Muslim Citizens: Director Interfaith Relations

Director of Interfaith Relations at Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Suhail Ahmad Raza, has said that under the Constitution of Pakistan, all religious minorities residing in the country should be given appropriate, effective, and fair representation in the National Commission for Minorities, and no religious community should be deprived of representation in the commission.
He emphasized that smaller religious minorities, in particular, should not be overlooked so that the commission may truly become a representative voice for all non-Muslim citizens.
In his statement, Suhail Ahmad Raza said that the Christian and Hindu communities are among the largest religious minorities in Pakistan and are significantly represented across almost all provinces of the country. In addition, Sikh, Parsi, Baháʼí Faith, and Kalash communities are also present in different regions; therefore, ensuring the inclusion of all religious groups in the commission is a national responsibility.
He further stated that social, political, religious, regional factors, and ground realities should be taken into consideration in the formation of the National Commission for Minorities and the appointment of its chairman so that every community feels a sense of confidence and participation.
Suhail Ahmad Raza said that the One-Man Commission of Pakistan has played a commendable role in highlighting the issues faced by non-Muslim citizens and working toward their resolution. He noted that the forum has rendered significant services for the protection of minority rights and the identification of their concerns.
He added that a non-controversial, dignified, and experienced personality should be appointed to lead the National Commission for Minority Rights.
