Speech No: Fq-37
Event: Itikaf 2024
Place: Itikaf City, Lahore
Dated: April 3, 2024
Category: Tasawur-e-Muhabbat awr Ishq
Speech By: Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri
Description:
In this speech, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri addressed thousands of participants at Itikaf City and explained that the journey of Sufism begins with love and longing for Allah. He elaborated that the way of the perfect Sufis is not just to walk the path of love, devotion, and purity themselves, but also to guide others to traverse the same path of love, piety, abstinence, contentment, and God-consciousness.
Shaykh Hammad emphasized that when we study the teachings of Sufism and the books of the Sufis, it becomes evident that the journey always begins with love and yearning for Allah. This spiritual journey sometimes feels like a barren and desolate land, at other times it feels like traveling through deserted deserts, or wandering through uninhabited towns and villages. But as the seeker continues on this path of love and devotion, it eventually leads them from barren lands to lush, green gardens. The ultimate destination of this journey is found in the streets of the Beloved (Allah). We must become travelers on this path of love and longing, and remain steadfast on this journey.
He also pointed out that our current state is one where we live comfortably, yet claim to be seeking Allah. Historically, the Awliya and Sufis would seclude themselves in caves, deserts, and forests in search of Allah. Today, if we wish to find Allah, we must turn our hearts into places of seclusion, and benefit from the spiritual company and guidance of Huzoor Sheikh-ul-Islam Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri during these ten days of Itikaf.
Shaykh Hammad mentioned that Allah loves two eyes, and the fire of Hell cannot harm these two eyes: one that sheds tears in the fear of Allah, and the other that stays awake at night in remembrance of Allah. When a servant immerses themselves in the love, fear, and knowledge of Allah, and sacrifices themselves for Him, Allah commands the angels to bear witness that He has forgiven them. Allah bestows guidance to those who struggle, exert effort, and toil on their journey toward Him.
He also mentioned that there are multiple ways to attain closeness to Allah, and these are the various paths of Sulook and Sufism. Any blessings granted to a group or community come through the guidance of their leaders. He stressed that all members of the movement and their responsible workers should remain in the company of Huzoor Sheikh-ul-Islam and stay connected to the guidance given to them.
Shaykh Hammad emphasized that we did not come to Itikaf City on our own; we were invited. Remember! Closeness to Allah, love, and union cannot be attained unless Allah grants the opportunity. Through the spiritual bond with Huzoor Qudwat-ul-Awliya Sayyidina Tahir Ala-ud-Din Qadri al-Gilani, we find ourselves in the presence of Allah’s remembrance, search, and longing. May Allah accept our gathering here and grant us His mercy.
