Description:

In this video, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri delivered a speech at Itikaf City 2025 on the topic of “Divine Love and Fear of Allah (Ishq-e-Ilahi and Khauf-e-Ilahi)”. He highlighted the spiritual states of the Companions (Sahaba) and the Successors (Tabi‘in), emphasizing the balance between love and fear of Allah and the significance of attaining closeness to Allah through this balance.

Shaykh-ul-Islam recounted the story of Hazrat Tha‘labah bin Abdulrahman Ansari, a young Companion, who spent forty days in the desert out of fear of Allah for a minor mistake, including his emotional moments with the Prophetand the arrival of angels. He also shared incidents regarding Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) and his fear of Allah upon hearing certain Quranic verses, illustrating the dangers of carelessness and self-conceit that may arise when one considers good deeds or closeness to Allah as a “guarantee for Paradise.”

Furthermore, he narrated the spiritual devotion of Egyptian slaves and female servants, and the story of Hazrat Malik bin Dina (RA), who made a spiritual bargain with a youth for the Hereafter, to inspire the audience toward divine love and fear, encouraging them to turn away from worldly possessions toward spiritual purity.
