Description:
In this video, Shaykh ul Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri explained how the philosophy of sending blessings and peace (Darood o Salam) is elucidated with scholarly and grammatical precision in the Quranic verse: “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet” (إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ). Shaykh ul Islam stated that, according to Arabic grammar, this is a nominal sentence (jumla ismiyya), which implies that Allah and His angels have been sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ every moment, from eternity to eternity, without being bound to any specific time, and this action is never interrupted. He further explained that sending Darood and Salam is a blessed Sunnah of Allah Almighty in which He has included His angels. A distinction was emphasized here: while prayer (Salah), fasting (Sawm), and Hajj are Sunnahs of the Prophet ﷺ, sending Darood and Salam is a Sunnah of Allah Himself, and the status of Allah’s Sunnah is superior to all other acts of worship. Moreover, it was highlighted that all angels, despite their various individual duties, are united in a single tongue and mission when sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. Finally, the message conveyed was that merely offering verbal salutations is insufficient; true servitude consists of coupling Darood and Salam with striving to establish the Prophet’s ﷺ mission and the religion as a system in society.
