The teachings of the Poet of the East are based on the intellectual and spiritual revival of Muslims
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, stated that Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA), the great philosopher-poet of the East, awakened the Muslim Ummah from the slumber of negligence through his philosophy of "Khudi" (selfhood).
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that Allama sahib conveyed the message to the Muslim Ummah that "Khudi" is about self-determination and rejecting all forms of slavery. His thoughts inspired Muslims in the subcontinent to abandon the mentality of subjugation and strive for freedom. His poetry and profound writings are rooted in spiritual revival, he said.
Dr. Qadri mentioned that Iqbal (RA) worked tirelessly to awaken Muslims from their spiritual slumber and imparted the lesson of self-confidence. Iqbal (RA) believed that Muslims should revive their lost glory by following the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
"Indeed, the restoration of past glory lies in sincere love and loyalty to the Prophet (PBUH)," he said.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri further emphasized that Iqbal (RA) particularly addressed the youth, urging them to soar high like eagles. He said that this elevated flight symbolized awareness, enlightenment, and the strengthening of morals and character. Iqbal (RA) advocated for unity and brotherhood among the Muslim Ummah, and this dream of unity can only be realized by adhering to the golden principles of the Qur'an and Sunnah. He concluded the message by saying that Iqbal (RA) was a great poet, philosopher, lover of the Prophet (PBUH), and a true well-wisher of the Muslim Ummah.
