Message of Muharram is Patience, Sacrifice, and Unity of the Ummah: Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqi

The Central President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council, Allama Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqi, said that Muharram-ul-Haram is the month of patience, loyalty, sacrifice, unity, and the revival of justice and fairness. He said this sacred month reminds us how the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Imam Hussain (A.S.), sacrificed everything — including his family — for the survival of Islam, but never bowed to tyranny, oppression, or falsehood.

He emphasized that the true message of Muharram is to adopt patience, tolerance, brotherhood, mutual respect, and unity in our behavior, so the Muslim Ummah can rise above sectarianism, prejudice, and hatred, and be bound together in the thread of unity. The struggle of Imam Hussain (A.S.) is a beacon of guidance and awakening for all of humanity.

Allama Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqi announced that Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council will hold intellectual, ideological, and spiritual conferences across the country from 1st to 10th Muharram under the theme “Message of Hussain (A.S.) & Unity of the Ummah”. Distinguished scholars, spiritual leaders, and intellectuals from all schools of thought will participate in these conferences. The goal is to promote inter-Muslim unity, love, and reverence for the Ahl al-Bayt (family of the Prophet) during this holy month.

He noted that the Ummah today is in dire need of unity and intellectual harmony more than ever before. To counter sectarian elements, religious scholars must use the pulpit for the reformation and unification of the Ummah.

Allama Siddiqi stressed that the core mission of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulama Council is to promote the love of the Prophet (PBUH), the greatness of the Ahl al-Bayt, and respect for the Companions (R.A.), along with fostering balance, moderation, and peace in society.

He said that Imam Hussain (A.S.) proved through his actions that sacrificing one’s life for the sake of truth is true honor, whereas staying silent in the face of oppression is cowardice. We must keep the message of Karbala alive through our character, words, and way of life.

In conclusion, he appealed to scholars, preachers, and spiritual leaders across the country to observe the holy month of Muharram as a month of “Greatness of Ahl al-Bayt, Preservation of Faith, and Unity of the Ummah”, so that the new generation may receive and embrace the message of Hussaini thought.
