We are committed to eradicating sectarianism and promoting interfaith harmony: Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

45th Foundation Day of Minhaj-ul-Quran International

The 45th Foundation Day of Minhaj-ul-Quran International was celebrated at Islamic centers and educational institutions established by the movement in Pakistan and around the world. In his special message, the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, stated that the foundation of Minhaj-ul-Quran was laid in 1980—a time when sectarianism, ideological confusion, and extremism were at their peak. Religious groups were divided and entangled in secondary disputes, and society was gripped by intellectual intolerance, which had escalated to bloodshed.

In these circumstances, Minhaj-ul-Quran International was established with a deliberate focus on reducing hatred and creating an environment of national unity, sectarian harmony, and religious tolerance. Alhamdulillah, more than four decades later, the movement stands firm on its founding principles and has achieved significant success in its mission to eliminate sectarianism and promote mutual respect.

Dr. Qadri emphasized that MQI has always prioritized education and research in its service to religion. The organization has established prestigious educational institutions that provide quality education to children from underprivileged families. These institutions not only promote knowledge but also contribute to increasing the national literacy rate.

He added that Minhaj-ul-Quran International has never separated religious service from humanitarian work. Through the Minhaj Welfare Foundation, the organization has established a comprehensive system of public service. During the recent devastating floods, Minhaj Welfare Foundation was among the prominent organizations providing relief to affected families.
