Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur expressed sorrow over the flood relief plan being sacrificed at the altar of politics by the two major coalition parties. He said that those who lost everything in the floods are desperately waiting for assistance, while the two big parties, the PPP and PML-N, are engaged in point-scoring over relief operations. He stressed that helping the victims must be above politics.
He added that both the federal and provincial governments have made many attractive announcements for the relief of the flood-affected people, but the real question is: when will these promises be implemented? He pointed out that the Punjab government has announced a relief package for the victims, but the most crucial factor in such announcements is the timely delivery of aid—which still shows no signs of happening.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur stated that the floods have paralyzed normal life, and people are awaiting urgent relief, yet the rulers are indulging in politics even over this human tragedy.
