The Pious Humble Themselves When Blessed with Knowledge: Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Pious Humble Themselves When Blessed with Knowledge Dr. Hassan Qadri

Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, addressed the Friday congregation at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam, Model Town Lahore.

He said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) always safeguarded the privacy, dignity, and personal matters of others, and instructed his followers to do the same. The Prophet (pbuh) never paid attention to trivial or irrelevant matters.

He stated that today, however, on social media, people tend to spread and discuss issues that have nothing to do with them. This habit must be abandoned, he stressed. Interfering unnecessarily in other people’s affairs is against Islamic teachings, and such behavior is a major cause of division and discord within the Ummah.

Dr. Hassan Qadri further said that arrogance is a great evil and must be avoided. The more the people of Allah (the pious) increase in knowledge, the more humble they become before others. He emphasized that the benefits of knowledge are attained through good manners (adab). Any knowledge that leads a person toward argumentation, hatred, or anger is not beneficial knowledge.

He explained that adab (refined character) is the presence of good qualities within one’s personality. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) worked hardest to refine the morals and character of people, because when morals improve, goodness spreads throughout society. That is why it is said that the Qur’an itself was the character of the Prophet (pbuh).

Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri concluded by saying that educational institutions must focus not only on academics but also on the moral and spiritual training of students, because knowledge without manners and ethics leads to harm rather than benefit.
