Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, addressed the Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ conference held at the Jalal Baba Auditorium, saying that Allah's command is: "The Holy Prophet ﷺ is closer to the believers than their own selves." He stated that if someone establishes a deep, passionate love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ, they can never go astray. The perfection of faith is only achieved when a person makes obedience to the Prophet ﷺ and acting upon His commands the ultimate purpose of their life. Reverence and respect for the Holy Prophet ﷺ is the foundation of faith, because the faith of anyone whose heart does not hold respect for the Prophet ﷺ is incomplete.
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri further said that once, Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) said to the Holy Prophet ﷺ: "O Messenger of Allah! I love you more than my parents, but not more than myself." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "O Umar, then your faith is not complete." The Prophet ﷺ placed His blessed hand on Hazrat Umar's chest, and his state changed. Hazrat Umar (RA) then said, "O Messenger of Allah! Now you are more beloved to me than my own soul." The Holy Prophet ﷺ replied, "Now your faith is complete."
He emphasized that love is reserved for those whose proximity brings peace to the soul and tranquility to the heart. The beauty, wisdom, and radiance of the Prophet ﷺ, along with His speech, have a uniqueness that no one else possesses. Allah’s beloved is the embodiment of love, and the completion of faith occurs only when a servant loves the Prophet ﷺ, submits to His commands, and considers every word and action of His the path to salvation.
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri noted that the Quran is the epitome of love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Allah swears by the greatness of His beloved by taking numerous oaths in the Quran. From the beginning of Surah Al-Fatiha to Surah Al-Nas, Allah highlights the rank and glory of His beloved Prophet ﷺ. The name, obedience, teachings, and character of the Holy Prophet ﷺ remain eternal. Times may change, but the words of the Prophet ﷺ remain true, and His Sunnah continues to illuminate the path.
He further remarked that the Holy Prophet ﷺ is perfect and unparalleled in every aspect—be it worship, business, justice, generosity, speech, or conduct. The Prophet ﷺ left behind such a fragrant aura that whenever He passed by, the air was filled with the fragrance. His sweat became a perfume far sweeter than any fragrance. His generosity was such that when people asked for more, He would be pleased rather than upset. He never responded to evil with evil. Thousands embraced Islam after being inspired by His noble character. Prophet Isa (AS) had said that when the final Prophet ﷺ would appear, convey my greetings to Him—He is the Prophet upon whom all other Prophets have sent their salutations.
Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri expressed sorrow, saying that today the Muslim Ummah has drifted far from the noble character and ethical conduct of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Envy, hypocrisy, selfishness, and arrogance have corroded our spirituality. We claim to be followers of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, but we fail to act upon His commands. He emphasized that if we truly claim to love Mustafa ﷺ, we must bring His character, ethics, respect, and love into our lives. Until hearts are filled with the love and reverence of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, neither worship will be accepted nor faith will be complete.
