Murder of Religious Political Party Workers is Condemnable: Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui

Judicial investigations should be conducted into the incidents, and institutions working according to the law should not be harassed
The Pakistan Armed Forces are fighting a national security war, and at this moment, national unity is of utmost importance.

Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui, President of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council, expressed his deep concern over the news circulating on social media regarding the alleged brutal torture, arson, and murder of religious political party workers in Muridke. He stated that these incidents should be investigated judicially, and strict action should be taken against those who have taken the law into their own hands and committed illegal acts. The protection of the lives and property of the public is the state's primary responsibility. He strongly condemned the alleged deaths and incidents of torture of innocent workers and demanded judicial investigations into the matter.

He further added that at present, the Pakistan Armed Forces are bravely defending the nation’s security on both the western and eastern fronts, and are also engaged in a decisive war against terrorism within the country. In such a situation, national unity, cohesion, and tolerance are urgently needed. Therefore, instead of using force ruthlessly, dialogue should be encouraged and issues should be resolved through discussions.

He also mentioned that the educational institutions affiliated with the system of madrasas in Pakistan are lawfully registered with the Government of Pakistan and are conducting their educational activities in accordance with state policies. These institutions are not involved in any illegal or extremist activities. He reported receiving complaints about local police in smaller cities and towns engaging in arrests and harassing teachers, which is provoking unrest. This practice must be stopped immediately, and senior officers must take notice of this. Rather than harassing the legally operating religious schools, cooperation should be extended to them in line with the law.
