Islam Teaches the Principle of Moderation: Prof. Dr. Hussain Qadri

A successful person is one who lives a balanced and content life in both religious and worldly aspects
The blessed life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is a practical model of a complete religious, spiritual, and social life — President Minhaj-ul-Quran

President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, has said that Almighty Allah has commanded humankind to strive for success in both religious and worldly dimensions of life. A person who only focuses on spiritual life but remains lazy, unproductive, and unsuccessful in worldly affairs is, in the sight of Allah, an incomplete and deficient human being.

He said that in Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah Almighty Himself taught believers the supplication: “O our Lord! Grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter,” which means seeking well-being in both worlds is in accordance with Divine will. Some people become so absorbed in worldly pursuits that they forget the Hereafter, while others become so preoccupied with the Hereafter that they neglect their worldly responsibilities. Islam forbids both extremes and promotes a balanced approach to life.

Prof. Dr. Hussain Qadri said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is the messenger of this very Islamic philosophy — that a true believer should neither confine himself to seclusion nor become entirely worldly, but should strive for the success of both worlds, as that is the true purpose of life.

He stated that the Holy Prophet ﷺ and his blessed Companions never neglected their worldly responsibilities, nor were they ever heedless of the remembrance of Allah. The Prophet’s ﷺ life was a perfect and practical model of spiritual depth and social engagement. Islam emphasizes precisely this balance and moderation.

He added that this is why in the educational institutions of Minhaj-ul-Quran, modern education is imparted alongside spiritual and moral training. At Minhaj University, advanced centers for IT, Engineering, Science, and Technology exist side by side with centers for Sufism and Naat (Prophetic Praise) Research. Likewise, in the central and regional offices of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Gosha-e-Durood (Corners of Blessings) have been established, so that a Muslim may earn his livelihood while also taking time to send salutations and blessings upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
