Founder and Patron-in-Chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Shaykh-ul-Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, addressed an intellectual session organized by the Minhajians Forum, attended by more than 500 PhD and MPhil scholars. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the true spirit of religion is knowledge and research. People of knowledge are the pillars of the intellectual structure of the Ummah. Inviting towards the religion is not a fard kifayah (collective obligation) but a fard ‘ayn (individual obligation). Every member of the Ummah is a da‘i; each person is obligated to convey to others the religious knowledge they possess.
A large number of graduates of Jamia Islamia Minhaj-ul-Quran (Minhajians), along with PhD and MPhil scholars and researchers, participated in the session. The event was arranged by Shahid Latif Qadri, President of the Minhajians Forum.
Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that da‘wah is a great responsibility of the Sacred Shariah and the legacy of the Prophets. In today’s world, the Muslim Ummah is in dire need of intellectual guidance, rigorous academic research, and scholarly insight. This responsibility rests most heavily upon the shoulders of scholars, researchers, and religious thinkers.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri emphasized that the purpose of da‘wah is not to ignite sectarian debates or intensify differences, but to call people towards Allah, to encourage them to adopt the noble character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and to acquaint them with the pure principles of the Shariah. He said that true da‘wah is that knowledge which fills hearts with light, transforms hatred into love, and leads society towards peace and justice.
He added that the role of researchers and scholars shapes the future of the Ummah; if they uphold intellectual integrity, patience, academic rigor, and moderation, society will move towards reform. He further stated that knowledge without da‘wah is incomplete, and da‘wah without knowledge is also incomplete—both must go hand in hand.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri urged young scholars to dedicate their abilities to serving the religion, reforming society, and uplifting the intellectual fabric of the Ummah. He advised them to advance the mission of da‘wah with sincerity, balance, good character, and wisdom—because this is the path that leads humanity toward goodness and safety.
During the session, Shahid Latif Qadri, President of the Minhajians Forum, welcomed the scholars and researchers in his opening remarks. The event was also attended by Haji Ameen-ul-Haq Qadri, Allama Dr. Mir Asif Akbar Qadri, Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqi, Dr. Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi, Dr. Naeem Anwar Naumani, Dr. Sarwar Siddiq, Dr. Farooq Rana, Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi, Haji Muhammad Arshad, Afzal Saeed, Jawad Hamid, Mazhar Mahmood Alvi, Abdul Sattar Minhajian, Dr. Hafiz Zaheer Ahmad al-Asnadi, Sheikh Farhan Aziz, Faiz Alam Qadri, Muhammad Aftab Khan, Shehzad Rasool, Abid Bashir, Umar Daraz, and a large number of scholars and Minhajians.
