
On the occasion of the death anniversary of the First Caliph, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA), a scholarly and intellectual session titled “The Grandeur and Eminence of Siddiq-e-Akbar (RA)” was organized under the auspices of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council at the Central Secretariat, Model Town, Lahore. Central, provincial, and district leaders of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council, along with scholars, spiritual guides, teachers, and students, participated in the session.
Addressing the gathering, Allama Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqi, Central President of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council, stated that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) is the complete embodiment of perfect faith, unwavering conviction, and absolute truthfulness. By standing by the Holy Prophet ﷺ in every trial, he proved that true faith is defined by obedience, sacrifice, and loyalty. He said that during the migration (Hijrah), the companionship of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) with the Holy Prophet ﷺ in the Cave of Thawr has been eternally preserved in the Holy Qur’an as guidance for humanity. This companionship is clear evidence of his lofty status and closeness to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
He further remarked that the caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) represents a radiant and unforgettable chapter in Islamic history. His life is a comprehensive model of leadership, integrity, selflessness, and sacrifice, serving as a guiding light for the Muslim Ummah in every age. He added that the Siddiqi caliphate was a practical manifestation of Islamic teachings and a complete reflection of the noble Sunnah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
Speaking on the occasion, Allama Ashfaq Ali Chishti, Central Nazim of the Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council, said that during the caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA), Islam achieved remarkable stability and expansion, which is a source of pride for the Muslim Ummah. He noted that the victories, administrative achievements, and religious services of the Siddiqi era constitute a golden legacy in Islamic history. The First Caliph (RA), through an organized system of the Bayt al-Mal, made the care of orphans, persons with disabilities, and the needy a responsibility of the state, thereby laying the practical foundations of a welfare state.
He added that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) granted all citizens of the State of Madinah their legitimate rights without discrimination and, through exemplary governance, firmly implemented the teachings of the Holy Prophet ﷺ on strong foundations. Allama Ashfaq Ali Chishti emphasized that the Siddiqi caliphate was a living embodiment of the Prophet’s ﷺ noble example. He urged today’s rulers and administrators to adopt the governmental and administrative model of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) as a guiding framework to learn the principles of justice, integrity, public service, and good governance.
He concluded by stressing that the Muslim Ummah is in dire need of guidance from the character of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA). If Muslims adopt truthfulness, trustworthiness, loyalty, and sincerity as their defining values, it would be possible to overcome prevailing social and moral crises.
The intellectual session was also attended by Allama Dr. Muhammad Hussain Azad, Allama Mufti Muhammad Rafiq Qadri, and other leaders
