Deputy Secretary General of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees, while addressing the Friday congregation at Jamy Shaykh-ul-Islam, said that the more a person’s heart opens to the knowledge of Islam, the more he is illuminated with the Light of Allah. He said that the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ declared: “I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate.” Hazrat Ali (RA) possessed profound awareness of both the outward and inward meanings of religious knowledge. No one could be a greater interpreter of the Qur’an and Sunnah than him. His sayings and teachings dispel the darkness of ignoran ce.
Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees said that Hazrat Ali (RA) stated: “When Allah intends goodness for someone, He grants him understanding of religion.” The noble personality of Maula-e-Kainat Hazrat Ali (RA) stands as a radiant beacon of the truth of Islam, justice and fairness, bravery, knowledge and wisdom, and piety and purity. His entire life was a practical embodiment of Islam and a true reflection of the teachings of the Holy Prophet ﷺ. The blessed birth of Hazrat Ali (RA) is a great divine blessing for the Muslim Ummah.
He further said that as a Caliph, Hazrat Ali (RA) established such a system of justice and equity that has no parallel in history. His model of justice is a guiding light for today’s rulers and judicial systems; by adopting it, oppression and injustice can be eliminated from society.
Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees emphasized that the bravery of Hazrat Ali (RA) was not limited to the battlefield alone, but was equally evident in speaking the truth, standing firm against oppression, and adhering steadfastly to principles. In battles such as Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, and Khaybar, Hazrat Ali (RA) displayed unparalleled courage for the supremacy of Islam. His bravery was, in fact, a practical manifestation of firm faith and complete trust in Allah.
The Deputy Secretary General said that Hazrat Ali (RA) is a fountainhead of knowledge and wisdom from which the Muslim Ummah has been drawing benefit for centuries. His sayings, sermons, and words provide guidance for every sphere of life. By declaring him “Bab-ul-Ilm” (the Gate of Knowledge), the Holy Prophet ﷺ conveyed to the Ummah that the knowledge of Hazrat Ali (RA) reflects a deep and comprehensive understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees said that the life of Hazrat Ali (RA) was a perfect example of piety, purity, simplicity, asceticism, and contentment. Despite holding authority, he lived a simple life and always gave preference to the Hereafter over worldly gains. He concluded by saying that the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA) teaches us to renew our commitment to adopting justice, knowledge, bravery, and piety in our individual and collective lives, and to play our role in the formation of an Islamic society.
