Addressing the Meraj-un-Nabi ﷺ Conference and the monthly Majlis-e-Khatm as-Salawat ‘ala an-Nabi ﷺ, held at the Central Secretariat of Minhaj-ul-Quran in Model Town, Lahore, Allama Muhammad Asim Makhdoom, Chairman of the All-Schools (Kul Masalik) Ulema Board, said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has always called the Ummah to gather love, and to move toward unity and harmony.
He stated that the Holy Prophet ﷺ did not ascend on the Night of Meraj on his own initiative; rather, Allah Almighty Himself specially invited the Prophet ﷺ for a meeting and Divine Vision. He added that Allah greatly loves the words “Subhan Allah wa bi-HamdiHi, Subhan Allah al-‘Azim”, and for this reason the Qur’anic verse describing the event of Meraj begins with the words “Subhanalladhi”.
Allama Muhammad Asim Makhdoom further said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, where all the Prophets (peace be upon them) were present to welcome him, and the Holy Prophet ﷺ led them in prayer. Thereafter, when he ascended through the heavens, he was accorded special honor on each heaven by the Prophets, and it was repeatedly asked who was arriving and whether it was by the command and invitation of Allah Almighty. He noted that even the angels welcomed the Holy Prophet ﷺ with the words “Ahlan wa Sahlan, Marhaban”.
He added that upon returning from the Divine Presence, the Holy Prophet ﷺ was granted the magnificent gift of Salah (prayer), which is the Meraj of a believer.
Allama Muhammad Asim Makhdoom concluded by saying that Muslims should not follow the paths of division and discord; rather, the true fortune lies in sending salutations and peace upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
