Dr Hussain Qadri Addresses 53rd Urs of Farid e Millat

The 53rd annual Urs of Farid-e-Millat Hazrat Dr. Farid-ud-Din Qadri, father of the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, was held in his ancestral district of Jhang.

Addressing the gathering, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, said that an Urs is a scholarly and spiritual gathering in which the selfless services of righteous and learned personalities for religion and humanity are highlighted for the sake of blessings and guidance.

He said that doing so ensures that one light continues to kindle another, spreading the message of goodness and virtue throughout society. He emphasized that remembering the friends of Allah is itself an invitation to righteousness and goodness.

The event was hosted by renowned anchorperson Safdar Ali Mohsin. The recitation of the Holy Qur’an was performed by internationally acclaimed Qari Noor Ahmad Chishti. During the ceremony, Sahibzada Tasleem Ahmad Sabri, Shehzad Brothers, and Zaheer Bilali presented devotional tributes in praise of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

Professor Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri stated that Hazrat Farid-e-Millat was a distinguished religious scholar, writer, poet, and author of his time, and was among the trusted associates of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (may Allah have mercy on him). In recognition of his selfless services to the Pakistan Movement, he was seated on the stage at the historic gathering held on March 23, 1940, at Minto Park, Lahore, and was later awarded a gold medal by the Nazaria-e-Pakistan Trust.

He further added that Hazrat Farid-e-Millat was a master of Urdu, Arabic, and Persian languages. Allah had blessed him with exceptional expertise in the sciences of Hadith, Qur’anic studies, and medicine. His pursuit of knowledge extended from the Indian subcontinent to the Arab world, where he benefited from leading scholars of the East and West and then widely disseminated that knowledge among the people and the elite alike.

He noted that the education and upbringing and mentorship of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was personally undertaken by Hazrat Farid-e-Millat. He mentioned that Hazrat Farid-e-Millat wrote a thesis on the subject of the pulse at Punjab University, which astonished professors of medicine—who wondered whether it was the work of a student or a masterpiece by a master of the field. He was awarded a gold medal for this remarkable achievement.

Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that Allah had blessed him with an extraordinary memory; enabling him to remember entire volumes of poetry. He was also a captivating speaker, and people would travel from far and wide to listen to him, returning enriched with pearls of knowledge and wisdom.

The renowned Sufi personality Wasif Ali Wasif once told Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri that he had been among the students of his father and had learned greatly from his company.

He further said that Hazrat Farid-e-Millat lived a life marked by simplicity and spiritual detachment, dedicating every moment to the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge. He undertook scholarly journeys to India, Arab countries, Turkey, Iran, and Syria, and was a widely experienced, eminent intellectual and spiritual personality.
