Monthly Khatm Al Salawat Ala Al Nabi Shab E Bedari Lahore 2026

Under the auspices of Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran, the monthly Majlis-e-Khatm-us-Salat ‘Alan-Nabi ﷺ and night-long spiritual gathering was held at the Jami‘ Shaykh-ul-Islam, Model Town, Lahore.

Addressing the gathering on the topic “The Self (Nafs) and Self-Purification (Tazkiya-e-Nafs),” Allama Prof. Dr. Ghulam Shabbir Jami said that tazkiya-e-nafs is the fundamental means of a person’s inner reform. He explained that the lower self can lead a person into heedlessness through excessive love of wealth and worldly possessions, as well as a desire for status and position. If a person fails to exercise control over the self, even outward worldly achievements ultimately become meaningless.

Elaborating on the different spiritual states and stages of the nafs, he said that Nafs-e-Ammarah inclines a person toward evil; Nafs-e-Lawwamah gives rise to self-reproach, reform and self-accountability; Nafs-e-Mulhamah is a state in which a person is blessed with spiritual illumination; while Nafs-e-Mutma’innah represents the elevated station at which a person becomes worthy of Allah Almighty’s pleasure. Ultimately, the higher stages of Nafs-e-Kamilah are attained through continuous spiritual striving, taqwa, self-accountability and obedience to Allah Almighty.

He observed that while outward cleanliness is attained through water, inner purity can only be achieved through taqwa, sincere repentance, righteous deeds and abundant salutations and blessings upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ. He added that when prayer is offered with the presence of the heart and soul, a believer experiences a profound state of spiritual devotion and ascension in servitude to Allah.

Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, head of the monthly Majlis-e-Khatm-us-Salat ‘Alan-Nabi ﷺ and night vigil, welcomed the participants and said that the purpose of the spiritual gathering was to purify the heart and take meaningful steps toward the attainment of tazkiya-e-nafs. He observed that gatherings devoted to the spiritual purification and reform of the heart are becoming increasingly rare in the present age.

He said that in today’s world, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri guides people toward a path that combines knowledge with action, thought with character, and love with service. He added that Sheikh-ul-Islam’s scholarly and research contributions constitute a valuable intellectual heritage for the Muslim Ummah.

Qari Syed Khalid Hamid Kazmi Al-Azhari was honored with the privilege of reciting verses from the Holy Quran. Hafiz Khurram Shehzad and his brothers, Hafiz Asim Sharif, Hassan Jamal Chishti and Zeeshan Baig presented devotional poetry and expressions of love and reverence in praise of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
