Kashf al-Mahjub Is an Authoritative Scholarly Work on Sufism and Spirituality
His Shrine Continues to Serve as a Great Center of Humanitarian Service, Says President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council
President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Ulema Council, Allama Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui, said that Hazrat Syed Ali Usman Al-Hujwiri (RA), widely known as Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), is among the eminent saints whose knowledge, exemplary character, piety, compassion, and service to humanity illuminated countless hearts with the light of faith. He said that the saint devoted his entire life to the propagation of Islam, the guidance of people, the care of the needy, and the promotion of love, tolerance, brotherhood, and peace in society.
He stated that through both his teachings and personal example, Hazrat Ali Hujwiri (RA) demonstrated that Sufism is not a path of withdrawal from worldly life; rather, it is founded upon love of Allah, obedience to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), spiritual purification, noble character, and selfless service to humanity. He said that the great saint taught love in place of hatred, brotherhood instead of division, and moderation and tolerance in the face of extremism.
Mufti Siddiqui further said that Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh’s (RA) renowned work, Kashf al-Mahjub, is an authoritative and timeless scholarly contribution on Sufism, spiritual discipline, ethics, and spiritual development. For centuries, the book has served as a foundational text in the study of Sufism and a primary source of guidance for seekers on the spiritual path. Drawing upon the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah, Kashf al-Mahjub comprehensively explains the true essence of Sufism while addressing the lives of the saints, spiritual purification, sincerity, patience, trust in Allah, divine love, and service to humanity with remarkable wisdom and insight.
He added that the revered shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) has, for centuries, remained a great center of spiritual enlightenment, learning, compassion, and humanitarian service. Every visitor, regardless of race, ethnicity, language, religious school of thought, or social background, finds a message of love, solace, and hope there. He noted that this is why the people of Lahore proudly refer to their city as the "City of Data."
Concluding his statement, Mufti Ghulam Asghar Siddiqui said that the message of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) remains as relevant today as ever and continues to serve as a guiding light for all humanity. He emphasized that by embracing the saint’s teachings, it is possible to build a peaceful, just, and welfare-oriented society in which human dignity, compassion, and service to others are upheld as the highest values.
