Addressing a training session and award distribution ceremony held at the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences (New Campus), Professor Dr. Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, said that knowledge has always held a lofty and sacred position in Islam and human society. The Qur’an and Sunnah grant knowledge the same superiority over ignorance as light holds over darkness.

He emphasized that, according to Islamic teachings, neither can an individual refine his life nor can a nation achieve progress without knowledge. Knowledge is the wealth that never diminishes and never leaves its inheritor deprived.

Dr. Hassan Qadri noted that under the guidance of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the network of schools, colleges, the university, Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan, and other educational institutions established under the banner of Minhaj-ul-Quran are radiant beacons of learning. To benefit from these centers of knowledge, he said, is a great blessing for every student.

He further stated that knowledge cannot be attained without sacrifice, hard work, and perseverance; one must hold firmly to patience and forbearance. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Adorn yourself with knowledge; make it your ornament and treasure,” for the Prophet himself was the embodiment of knowledge and refined character.

Dr. Hassan Qadri emphasized that knowledge is not only essential for worldly advancement but also for success in the Hereafter. It illuminates the heart and mind, helps distinguish between right and wrong, and leads a person to the recognition of Allah Almighty.

He added that knowledge cultivates wisdom, patience, intellect, and gentleness in one’s nature. Every student should strive to become an heir to this noble legacy of knowledge, which is far more precious than gold or silver. The lives of great muhaddithin (hadith scholars) and a’immah (Imams) are shining examples of sacrifice in the pursuit of knowledge.

“Whoever attains deep understanding of the religion of Allah,” he said, “finds knowledge alone sufficient for his needs. Knowledge grants dignity, protects from destitution, and prevents one from having to beg before others.”

Concluding his address, Dr. Hassan Qadri advised students to become seekers of knowledge rather than seekers of the world and to always show respect for scholars and learned people. “Today,” he said, “we must pledge to adorn our lives with the light of knowledge — for remember, a nation deprived of education can never progress.”
