Description:
In this video, it is explained what the religious and historical significance of the titles of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Ahl al Bayt (A.S) are, such as "Siddiq e Akbar" and "Faruq e Azam." The video provides a scholarly clarification that although the title "al Siddiq" was granted by the Prophet ﷺ himself, the addition of "al Akbar" was made later by the Muslim community as a mark of respect and honour. It is also explained in the video that while some titles and virtues are exclusive, others are shared; for example, the Quran refers to Prophet Yusuf ﷺ, Prophet Ibrahim ﷺ, and Prophet Idris ﷺ as "Siddiq," and grants the title "Siddiqah" to Maryam ﷺ. Furthermore, the video highlights that within various Islamic jurisprudential schools, there is a tradition of referring to their respective Imams as "Imam al Azam," such as for Imam Malik, Imam Shafi, and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal.
